Making Your Mark With MSC Open House
One thing that makes Texas A&M University unique is its more than 1,200 student organizations. The MSC Open House team including 30 MSC Hospitality volunteers partnered together to once again create a successful MSC Open House experience for the student body of Texas A&M University. MSC Open house encourages students to find new opportunities through different organizations whether they’re a freshman, senior, or in between.
MSC Open House benefits organizations by helping them reach thousands of students on a single day with over 12 different organizations types being represented ranging from professional and career to special interest. With more than 275 organizations recruiting the best and the brightest, Spring 2023 MSC Open House had more than 3,000 students searching for opportunities to find involvement on campus, overall enhancing their aggie experience. This does not include the thousands of students reached through virtual MSC Open House via Instagram.
MSC Open House volunteers had a variety of responsibilities from setting up the tables to directing students to their desired booth. MSC Hospitality focuses on creating a welcoming environment in the MSC and the University as a whole, MSC Open House is just one way they accomplish this goal. MSC Open House volunteer Luke Bludau explains why volunteering for MSC Open House is important to him, “I see the importance of helping students find a home at a massive university because I was once in their shoes.” Even with 70,000 students on campus, many students struggle to find a place and friends they fit in with. Through MSC Open House, students are given direct opportunities to find people who share common interests with them. This allows Texas A&M University, the largest university in the country, to feel like a closely knitted community.
As we reminisce on the successful Spring MSC Open House, we look forward to the upcoming one in the Fall and beyond. Fall 2023 MSC Open House will take place on August 27, 2023 from 1 to 5 p.m. in the Memorial Student Center.
