MSC Accessibility Policy
The Memorial Student Center is committed to making its Web sites accessible to all users and we have included several features designed to improve accessibility for users with disabilities. Some of these features are described below.
Standards
Images on the site contain 'alt tags' with descriptions of the image, which aid users who listen to the content of the site by using a screen reader, rather than reading the site.
A 'skip to' link provides users with a method for bypassing common navigation links and going directly to the main content each time a page is accessed.
Major reports and other special publications that are made available on the agency's Web site are generally available in html. In some cases we may publish a document using Adobe Portable Document Format (PDF). When posting PDF files, we may accompany the link to the PDF with a link to an online conversion of the PDF to HTML. PDFs without this accompanying link can be converted using Adobe's Online PDF to HTML Converter.
To improve the accessibility of our Web site we test any major redesign with lynx, a text-only browser, and other Web tools. The results of these reviews have been incorporated into the website. The Memorial Student Center welcomes comments on how to improve the site's accessibility for users with disabilities. Our Web site development guideline is available for review online at http://cops.mscprograms.tamu.edu/policies/webpolicy.shtml.
The Memorial Student Center is committed to making its Web sites compliant withConformance Level "A" of the World Wide Web Consortium accessibility rating.
Applicability
This policy applies to web pages served from the www.mscc.tamu.edu domain. All domains hosted by the Memorial Student Center are strongly encouraged to also follow these standards; however, the current process of site management by volunteers precludes our ability to fully enforce adherence at this time. These minimum standards and our ability to ensure internal compliance is periodically reviewed and may be enhanced in the future.
